From 1968 to 2001, Gunther Gebel-Williams stood as one of the most celebrated circus performers and animal trainers in the United States. His extraordinary talent and charisma captured the hearts of audiences across the nation. I recently had the opportunity to visit his memorial in Venice, Florida, a place dedicated to honoring his remarkable contributions to the circus arts. As I walked through the memorial, I can remember the many times I had seen him perform. The skills he displayed with animals were not just a spectacle; they were a testament to his deep understanding and love for them.

Ponce de Leon Lighthouse

From a visit to the Ponce de Leon lighthouse and museum located at Ponce de León Inlet south of Daytona Beach Florida. At 175 feet in height, it is the tallest lighthouse in the state and one of the tallest in the United States (the Cape Hatteras Light in North Carolina is taller at 207 feet.
