National Camera Day!

Smile! National Camera Day is June 29, a day to celebrate the fact that photography, once so complicated it took a chemist to understand, is now part of our everyday lives. The word “photography” is based on two Greek words that, when put together, mean “writing with light.’” It’s a beautiful way of describing what a camera lets us do — tell a story without the use of words.

Bring Along A Brownie

Kodak Brownie was the point & shoot camera of the 20th century, a mass produced camera in production for 80 years. From the first cardboard and wood model in 1900 to the last, compact moulded plastic cartridge loading pocket camera made in 1980, almost 100 cameras bore the famous name. Millions of them were produced.

Mechanical System-a system that manages the power of forces and movements to accomplish a task.

I have always been fascinated  with mechanical things. Whether it be a vintage watch,  clock, or typewriter, I find that the inner workings are like of work of art with all the levers, gears, springs coming together to perform a task. That is one reason I like to collect and use vintage film cameras, there is something about adjusting for distance, aperture and shutter speed then cocking the shutter and look at the subject and take the image. It makes me slow down and see things a little differently.
