Norman Laboratories
In the early 1900s, Jacksonville Florida was a busy spot for silent movie-making because it was too snowy in the northern states to work all year long. There is still one studio building standing from those days.
Norman Studios was the only one that filmed silent movies with all Black/African-American casts, in real-life-type roles instead of the stereotypical roles for Blacks that were filmed back then.
The Studios were recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places. A local support organization is raising money to restore the inside as well. There are fundraising silent movie public screenings with a live band accompanying the film, the way it used to be done in the 1920s.

Napoleon’s Sister
I am always amazed at the delicate details and vivid colors of these old paintings. This was done by a french artist Rene-Theodore-Bertlon in 1812 of Princess Pauline Borghese youngest sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. This hangs in the Cummer Museum in Jacksonville Florida.

The Tarpon Springs Police Department has released more information in a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon along U.S. 19 and Beckett Way.
According to the police department, the wreck occurred just before 3:30 p.m. when a vehicle slammed into a traffic control post and burst into flames. Officer John Gibson and a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy both spotted the wreck about the same time. The officers worked together to try and put out the flames, but had no luck. They pulled a female passenger out of the car, but were unable to rescue the male driver, an email from the police department stated.
The woman, police said, was taken to Bayonet Hospital where she later died. The man died at the scene.
Police have identified the two victims as Pamela Guthrie, 33, of New Port Richey, and Justin Dewar, 33 of Port Richey.
